Advair Diskus is used for the treatment of reversible obstructive respiratory diseases, including asthma in children and adults, if it is necessary to provide a combination treatment with bronchodilator and inhalation corticosteroid. Advair Diskus is indicated to the patients, getting the supporting doses of inhalation corticosteroids and selective beta-2 agonists of prolonged action.

It is used for the treatment of patients who have signs of obstructive respiratory diseases in the monotreatment with glucocostreicoids. It is also indicated to the people, using bronchodilators if it is necessary to prescribe them corticosteroids for inhalations.

Advair Diskus also serves as a basic medicine for the patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (including chronic bronchitis and lung emphysema). Advair contains salmeterol and fluticasone propionate that have different mechanisms of action. This is reflected in the reduction of symptoms of exacerbation of asthma without the side effects, typical for systemic corticosteroid.

Advair is not used for the treatment of persons, intolerant to fluticasone, salmeterol or supporting substances. Don’t use the drug in the exacerbations of the disease and acute damages of men’s health.

The patients with active form of tuberculosis or latent tuberculosis, and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and hypokalemia, must take the drug with caution.

Advair is not intended for the patients with chronic bronchitis, Advair is not intended for the patients with chronic bronchitis and hypersensitivity to the components of this drug.

The patients with tuberculosis, infectious respiratory illnesses of viral, bacterial and fungal character, diabetes, thyrotoxicosis, uncontrolled hypokalemia, pheochromocytoma, arterial hypertension, arrhythmia, CHD, cataracts, hypothyroidism, glaucoma and osteoporosis must take the drug with caution.

Side effects

The use of Advair can cause some side effects, particularly the following ones:

  • Sickness, dyspepsia, hyperglycemia;
  • Nervousness, feeling of unexplained anxiety, sleep disorders, headache, tremor, behavior changes;
  • Cushing’s Syndrome, Cushingoid symptom, bone mineralization disorder, suppressing of adrenal glands function, stunting in children;
  • Tachycardia and extrasystoles, atrial fibrillation;
  • Nasopharyngitis, sinusitis, irritation of the throat mucous membrane, paradoxical bronchospasm;
    urticaria, skin rash, angioedema, anaphylactic shock;
  • Bronchitis, pneumonia, cataracts, muscle spasms and pain, glaucoma, arthralgia;
  • Hoarseness and candidiasis of throat and mouth.

There is a higher possibility of side effects, caused by the effect of fluticasone in children. You need to control your child’s heath state in the process of treatment with this drug.
