Letters “XR” in the name indicate that it is a slow release preparation. The active substance penetrates into the body very slowly, approximately 24 hours after the intake of Effexor capsule. Such gradual concentration of Venlafaxine minimizes all the side effects and prolongs the curative action of antidepressant.

Indications for use

-treatment of different depressions, including those accompanied by the anxiety symptoms.

Contraindications

  • children and adults under 18;

  • simultaneous intake of MAO inhibitors;
  • individual intolerance of Venlafaxine and other components of the drug.

The patients with recent myocardial infarction, instable angina, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, convulsive disorder in anamnesis, raised intraocular pressure, closed-angle glaucoma, and manic state in anamnesis, major sodium imbalance, hypovolemia, dehydration, and simultaneous use of diuretics, suicidal tendencies, prone to bleeding of skin and mucous membranes, initially low body weight.

Dosage

Effexor XR in pills should be taken orally during the meal, at the same time each day. Swallow them as a whole without washing down.

The intake of Fevarin may sometimes cause the following side effects: epigastric pain, anxiety, stool disorders, dry mouth, vertigo, heart rate disorders or blurred vision. In rare cases, it can cause allergic reactions (urticaria, angioedema), urination disorders, excessed sweating and sexual dysfunctions.
