Actoplus Met

Actoplus Met consist of a combination of metformin and pioglitazone, which are oral diabetes medicines that help monitor blood sugar levels.

Patients with type 2 diabetes who don’t use insulin injections every day can use Actoplus Met. This medication is forbidden if you have type 1 diabetes.

You can also use Actoplus Met be for purposes not listed in this medication instruction.

Important information

You can’t use Actoplus Met if you suffer from severe or uncontrolled heart failure, metabolic acidosis, kidney diseases or if you have cancer of urocyst. You shouldn’t use this drug if you have diabetic ketoacidosis (contact with your doctor for treatment with insulin). Type 1 diabetes is not simultaneous with Actoplus Met.

Actoplus Met can be a reason of cardiac distress. You should tell your doctor in case of rapid weight gain, shortness of breath (even with mild efforts), edema.

You should to stop taking Actoplus Met if you have any type of x-ray or CT scan using a dye.

There are persons, who develop lactic acidosis during the using of metformin. If you have such symptoms as: cold or numb feeling in your hands and legs, muscle weakness or pain, difficult breathing, pain in your stomach, nausea with vomiting, slow or uneven heart rate, dizziness, or feeling very tired or weak, you should get emergency immediately.

Actoplus Met is taken during the eating. Take the extended-release Actoplus Met XR tablet once daily with your dinner.

It is not allowed to break, crush or chew an extended-release tablet. It is swallowed whole.

Your need to control blood sugar often and your doctor may demand other blood tests.

Side effects of Actoplus Met

You should have medical help if you have some allergic reaction to Actoplus Met such as: trouble breathing; edema of your face, lips, tongue, or throat; nettle rush.

You need the help of your doctor if have:

  • unusual urine, urinating more than usual, painful or difficult urination;
  • shortness of breath (even with mild work), edema, fast getting of weight;
  • easy bruising or bleeding, pale skin;
  • woozy, pain in upper stomach, dark urine, tingle, bed appetite, clay-colored stools, hepatitis (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or
  • violations of your vision.
  • So side effects of Actoplus Met include:
  • headache;
  • diarrhoeal disease; or
  • symptoms of cold: sore throat, stuffy nose and pain, ptarmus.
